Improper Rotations – Allene S₄

An improper rotation consists of two stages. 1) A proper rotation around the S_n axis. 2) Reflection across a plane perpendicular to the S_n axis.

In the case of allene it has a S₄ axis. Hence there is a C₄ rotation followed by a reflection, shown above.
