PVP encapsulated Au nanoparticles

Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP):

The PVP here serves as a stabilizing group for nanoparticles. To minimize the surface tension, the polymer will attach to the gold core and gradually encapsulate around the surface of it. Finally, a polymer shell will be formed, which physically confines the size and motif of the gold particles.

This creates a wide variety of nanoparticle shapes and sizes.
