Garnet – Y₃Al₅O₁₂

Yttrium aluminium garnet (YAG, Y₃Al₅O₁₂).

The Garnet structure consists of linked AO₈, BO₄ and MO₆ polyhedra. A and B are usually di- and tri-positive cations. In this model, the BO₄ are the green Aluminium and the MO₆ the blue Aluminium. The 8 co-ordinate site accommodates Yttrium.
