Reaction of carbonyl with hydrazine gives a hydrazone. Hydrazine is more nucleophilic than a regular amine due to a presence of the adjacent nitrogen. Note the similary to the formation of an oxime reaction. Hydrazones generally form a mixture of geometric isomers.
