Reaction of an enamine with water. A hydrogen is firstly lost from the water as the enamine reacts with it. The hydroxide then attacks the electrophilic carbonyl carbon, due to the highly nucleophilic nitrogen. The nitrogen-carbon bond is then broken to an amine and a ketone.
